The 3rd Meeting in Turkey

The 3rd Meeting in September 2017 in Canakkale in Turkey
We have behind us the third meeting in the frame of the project “ICT for seniors ECOSYNERGY”.
According to our plan, it was held in Turkey and organized by TROY Environmental organization. The office of the organization is based in the port city of Canakkale, located on the Dardanelles.

All project partners participated the meeting: the organizer (TROY) and the representatives of the coordinator from the Social Institute Ecological in Poland, from the Swedish organization MobilEducation and from the Adult Education Center in Austria – SPES Zukunftsakademie.

We had discussions about the project implementation and results, our activities and the follow up of our partnership – we also agreed that health is one of the most important topics for seniors in their every day life. The idea is to connect health with ICT – so that seniors can get more information about possibilities to live a healthy life. We even made plans for our final meeting, which will take place in Sweden in May 2018.

Theodora Gergh from Austria presented the idea of Time Bank as a good solution for supporting and helping seniors in their every day life. Many activities with the time bank have been implemented in her town Heilkreutz for a year and the seniors who are involved are very satisfied.

We also talked about this idea during previous meetings (see newsletter 2). Theodora takes care of her Time Bank having currently 18 active persons in her database. This group of actively operating people decided that the price of one hour´s work is 3.60 euros. Every new member of the time bank will receive a five-hour gift. All needs and offers are concretized on the basis of a detailed questionnaire. The members of Time Bank meet once a month to get to know each other better and to establish a plan for further needs and actions. Once again, the idea of the Time Bank was presented by Polish project partners in Wawer’s University of the Third Age (WTUTW). A questionnaire was prepared and distributed among WTUTW members. They will answer to the question whether it is necessary to act on the model of the Austrian Time Bank and whether seniors want to cooperate with each other and help each other in such an active way.
